Easier/ Cost effective??

so i recently bought a turbo and hotside off a member here and it has a broken bolt in it.... it sucks but not really a problem. my question is would it just be better if i buy a new hotside which really arent that much or have it fixed. i dont really know if it can be fixed even in the first place. thanks

If it were me, I would at least attempt to remove the broken bolt. Drill into it and then use a bolt extractor. If you are unable to do it yourself then bring it to a machine shop and they should be able to help you out. Either way those two options will be much more cost effective then buying a new hotside.

I had the same problem, damn bolt snapped when i was pulling off the o2 housing, i just drilled the bolt out with a good metal bit and lube then retapped it, had to go up a size on the bolt, but no big deal went together just fine.

For what its worth, I had two seized studs in a10.5 hot side. I tried everything, heat, PB Blaster, etc.but no luck. Then a machine shop owner said he could fix it with an "electrostatic discharge machine." I don't know all of the technical principles, but he explained it as like a welder in reverse. It apparently burns out the stud without damaging the threads in the piece you're trying to save. Its worked perfectly, and the hot side is as good as new. The machinist told me that this machine can handle anything from a 6-32 screw to a 2 inch bolt.
