Anyone make an air filter heat shield?
Anyone make an air filter heat shield?
Just curious if anyone vendors on here or anyone for that matter manufacture anything like this?
I heard Apexi does, but prob wont be worth the money it is and more looks then function.
I would like to make one to be honest, but no time or will power to do so, so would rather just buy something pre done and known to fit
Any suggestions?

Apexi makes that box and I believe Buschur also sells a carbon fiber shield for the Vibrant (crappy filter) air filter he sells with his intake kits. Perrin also has a small heat sheild for use with their filter. Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it too much, I have an open air filter and have spent a lot of time logging and analyzing intake air temps at the MAF and inside the intake manifold and I've yet to see anything to make me second guess my decision to run an open filter element. Temps are a bit hotter when idling for a few minutes or sitting in traffic, but as soon as the car starts rolling you'll get cool air much more quickly than with an enclosed box.

actually Ive talked to people that have made them for their personal car and noticed like 50* differences or so. Pretty significant if you ask me.
My bay seems unusually hot, so I want to try this.

Not sure what you guys are doing wrong but my friends and I are consistently around 10F higher than ambient temps at the MAF with open air filters. We do have coated exhaust manifolds and o2 housings so that probably helps some.

I had some of my stuff coated on my Supra and it made a world of difference. Im just not at the point I wanna rip everything apart again on this car to get it coated.
I never logged my temps. but I just know they are retarded hot just by feel.
modify the stock air box, while retaining the top cover and "ram air" inlet snorkel. Sorry no pics, but guys (razorlab and others) in the ecuflash forum have done it. Search there.
This is an issue, 9sec9 and I have been talking about it for months. Now that his car is done, and I have only a few more tire tests to do, I will be building one for my car. I would not waste my time if it was not worth the gain.
Very nice! I am very much looking forward to this...How soon should we expect this?
