theres a strange knock coming from seems from the engine compartment when i start my car, theres also a thump that comes along with that knock. the car drives fine and the knock doesnt really come up any other time maybe a motor mount? any ideas??

 

Does the knock only happen on cold startups, or does it occur on warm startups as well?

 

Check your Oil Level May be Low.

 

it happens hot or cold and oil levels are good i just changed it.

 

hmm what does it sound like a ticking or had knocking?? Ticking would be lifters (since no oil pressure before starting) Knocking could be many other things.

 

nope just one knock when it turns over then nothing

 

I dont want to start another thread, and i have the same problem.. Does anyone know.. It is cold outside, and i also heard it knock few times when i shut the car off.
does anyone know what could be the problem??

 

Check your exhaust, It may be hitting something when the motor moves.

sounds like your down pipe banging around down there...had that same problem..if it sounds like a clunking and then like maybe somebody was tapping on your down pipe with a small hammer its for sure it...if you got the ebay down pipe or o2 housing you can get it

 

That sounds about right.. I have BR TBE, and its getting worse now.. It used to be at start up only, not its when i shut it off, and also when im slowing down at red light or stop sign..
It almost sounds like my there is a problem with my wheels or axels, but wheels nor axels dont have anything to do with start up.. I gotta lift it up and check under.. thanks
