You are my hero. Probably the best post in this thread.

If I need a 2618 alloy piston for my application... and 2618 alloy is better for higher whp engines.... Why Buschur is using 4032 alloy in their pistons???
I think that it's easy for him to order from JE the same piston design with 2618 instead of 4032....
I wonder why.... ??????

Buschur's pistons are 2618.

True, most piston manufacturer's don't have forging capability in-house. Wiseco has a very large forging operation that extends beyond just piston forgings. They make forgings for all types of products.

What is really important is who designs the forgings. This is where the engineering within each company makes a difference.

I would say that it is not of who makes a better piston, but a choice of the buyer. As David said he has used a bunch of them over the years and there all great pistons. I know when I was looking for pistons I had wanted to make a good spinning motor that wasnt to heavy in the rotating mass. The first pistons I used were Ross pistons, then after a few changes down the road, I went with Mahle.

Why did I do this? Simple, 250 grams per pistons is pretty light and that is what I was looking for. I mean I looked at it this way, if they are good enough for the boys and girls in F1 racing they should be pretty damn good in my car. I also used old style Eagle rods before there quality control went to crap and the tollerences got way off from rod to rod. Along with that Quartermaster twin disc and the car spools very very fast. All in all im happy with my choices. Do the research yourself and see what you like about all the manufactures that have been discussed and come up with the best conclusion for yourself. I mean any way you go you wont be disappointed.
