Stock ECU, 1000CC injectors, Minibattery...

I recently upgraded to 1000CC injectors and have been tuned by AMS for my 3076 Kit (I have the stock IX ECU). I have had a mini-battery kit from ETS for about a year and a half.

I noticed the engine likes to crank longer before starting with these injectors after being tuned at AMS. The injectors were installed and scaled by them, as well as a complete retune for a bunch of mods I've done.

I drove the car last week, and let it sit in the garage for 6 days. I then started it the other morning and I noticed the cluster really dimmed more than usual, but it did start. I drove around the block to get gas, and it would not start - so I had a friend give me a jump. After driving it to work it had the oppourtunity to charge, and it started just fine for the way home.

I've been charging it with my trickle charger, and last night I charged it for a ride to work this morning, and it started however when I got done with work it had no power and I had to get a push start. I've pulled the battery out now.

Anyone else have problems with big injectors starting on the stock ECU with the mini battery? I wonder if 1.5 years of life on this battery is just normal. I've only had these injectors for a few weeks.

I'd attribute it primarily to the battery

if you let your car sit for a week at a time I'd consider losing the mini battery...it simply isn't worth the trouble

Correcto Mundo! At least disconnect the battery if you're gonna let it sit for more than a couple of days!

If your cranking voltage gets pretty low and the battery comps are wrong at those low voltages, it can have a significant affect on how the car starts.

what about trickle charging every time I don't plan on using it the next day? I was thinking of making a quick connect harness so I can just plug it in.

this would be a decent solution

I have a feeling you might need to replace the existing battery though...sounds like a charger might not save it

Oh the current battery is TOTALLY shot.

I have a new one coming hopefully thursday.

I found the same battery as the ETS minibattery on google.

68$ shipped.

i'm running the AMS mini battery kit, and it has pooped out on me in the cold winter months if I dont use the car, but I have a battery tender which I've used on it to bring it back to life.
