Getting things back in order after my stock block reached its expiration date I'm pretty stoked, won't be too much longer now!

My stock block....

The new Switzer shortblock

This is looking up at my transfer case, the #3 connecting rod actually punched a hole in the case!!!

Getting the new lid and bearing plate put on...

I also am doing an aftermarket oil cooler that saved me about 500 bucks off the cost of a factory one, as well as FP's new oil feed line with filter...

After hearing some stories of guys rebuilding the shortblock and then right after break-in having the turbo fail, I started thinking about where the oil is sourced from... AFTER the oil has traveled through the entire engine, and picked up anything along the way, it gets sent into the turbo before being filtered!!

With the new setup from FP, not only will the turbo get a feed of oil fresh out of the oil filter, but it has its own replaceable oil filter in line with it, I ordered a kit and a few extra filters that were only a couple bucks, so I'm going to change those when I do my first couple oil changes here for the break-in, and then keep a couple on hand to swap when I do oil changes on a regular basis

The more I thought about it, the more that oil line kit seems like a no-brainer.

I'll be getting it back on the dyno after the engine and new clutch (fidanza 3.2 bad after 3000 miles ) are broken in... so I'll have some new power numbers with the built bottom end, not sure how much it will change

Wow, bet you are getting pretty anxious now that it's so close.

Very nice work! Good luck on big numbers!

Got a heck of a deal on this guy from ImportDPS, it's an HD Exedy Twin

One of my friends had one of these and he got something like 40,000 street miles and 2 race seasons out of it.... I'd be a happy camper if I could manage that

Edit: the bright side of this is that the Fidanza wore out so quickly that the throw out bearing is still new

nice update. cant wait to see new results. did you consider higher compression? would have liked to see you go 10/1 or higher. E85 loves it.

Yes I've heard that too... they're 9 to 1's though... I go back and forth between pump and E85, that's why Switzer recommended staying with a lower compression.. plus I drive it on road trips too so I wanted to have good 93 performance as well, for when there's no E's available haha

I also would love to see what it would do with 10 to 1's

Tis a shame. In a decade you won't be able to source an Evolution 4G63 block because the majority of them here in the states people have made into boat anchors by portholing them.

You can believe me when I tell you that putting a hole in this one bothered me more than you If it weren't for Tym at Switzer Performance coming through and sourcing me out all kinds of deals on parts, the car might be in the for sale section right now.. it was close.

I was, however happy to be able to use the core I bought used, it was in pretty rough shape and had to be bored .040 on its first overbore, and the a/c bracket mounting bosses had been broken off and welded back on! It cleaned up alright but the crank was toast that came with it... luckily my crank was still good enough to use. Perhaps in the future, if the demand is still there, a company might decide to produce blocks and maybe trans case parts or even rebuild kits for the ACD cases also, to sell outright.

ok, maybe not... but we can always hope??

Ok I lied I just would have had to put it in a garage for a while... and yes I just quoted myself

Got the Tcase together tonight, another step closer.... I had to pick these up as well....

I wanted to get the rest of the season out of my 615's... unfortunately, like anything else had to happen, when my engine went the pieces flew back under the rear tires and one of them blew out.. I know... it sounds too stupid to be true. Only me

Well that sucked what happend, as I have done the same to another car of mine more then once. Well I am in the market to make a full build without taking my stock (good) motor apart, and eventually drop in a complete turbo and motor in keeping my stocker....stock. lol someday!

Eh maybe you can provide me with some guidance?

I really like my exedy twin hd so far. Ive launched the car about 40 times probably. Evos love being launched, they do it so smoothly. With the exedy tho, shift with high rpm's and when you downshift rev match.. the clutch hates being driven normally.

your timing belt looks a little stiff, can you slide your pin in out and easily through the tensioner after turning the crank 4-5 times?

Ill be building my motor shortly as well.. im gonna go with buschur. im still undecided if i want to go with a 2.0 or 2.3. Im leaning more towards a 2.3
