So just got the FP Red hooked up, this thing whistles like all the time its crazy sounding it almost doesn't sound right. Kinda got me all worked up, so Just wondering if any one could confirm that this turbo is noisy, even under normal driving.

yes it whines all the time.

 

If you have the 80mm then it is normal. When I swapped housing there was a noticable difference in sound. Now it sounds like a jet fighter or space ship.

my 64mm whistles quite a bit as well! i have a lot of surge though too which probably isnt good.

 

the new 80mm housings as loud as your evo whistles with no downpipe connected.. its similar to the gt3076r.... the whistle comes from the anti surge inlet on the compressor housing. Sounds absolutely amazing and turns heads big time.
