TBE fail ...
Oh and heres a how to if you decide to replace the o2 housing: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...sing-pics.html
true but if you buy a TBE, they never come with a o2 housing since thats considered part of the turbo
Sorry for the newbie question , but why must the hotside be taken off and re-tapped ?

Trust me, it looks intimidating but its a pretty straight forward install. Just make sure you have a good tool set and take your time. Like I said, I just removed the entire turbo to make the install much easier but it doesnt mean you have to. You could remove the hot side like some people mentioned. It took me and a friend about 14-16 hours to install an O2 housing, FMIC with new pipes, boost controller and a couple other misc things like my Ralliart Lip etc...

Lol, the radiator is probably the simplest thing to do out of the whole procedure. I just removed the lower hose and took the cap off and then its just the 2 bolts on the brackets up top and disconnect the top hose and just pull it right out. Dont forget to disconnect the fan too. My biggest concern would be the o2 sensor but surprisingly mine came off pretty easy.
i meant retapping the hotside where the bolts for the O2 housing insert. I thought u said one broke off there. that happened to me because of just simple time and rust on that area and that is how i fixed the problem.
as for the ebay O2 housing not lining up, i never heard that. It fit perfect onto the hotside part of the turbo and lined up perfect on the aftermarket Apexi downpipe I installed it on. I did reuse stock gasket and donut gasket and many miles later, it is still great.
I did the job with the radiator in because I had just done a flush and did not want to have to do it again. It is doable with the radiator in, I may have bent like 4 fins which I was able to bend back, although it may have been easier with the radiator removed.

PB blaster is a god given item lol. spray as much as u can the night before and the day of and right before. made most bolts very easy to remove.
all in all the job took maybe 7-8 hours, but that included the extra step of having to retap the hotside because of the broken bolt.
and yes put antiseize onto everything upon reinstallation.
