hard to go into gear?!

Hello...

I just bought a new evo and I noticed when im in neutral and want to go into gear it get hard to shift...No matter which gear I choose,no grinding at all just hard to go, but once in gear it shift increadible smooth thru all gear up and down shift just when in neutral..I was told by the Previous owner that the car has a twin disc exedy, which I doubt since i was told that twin disc make noises, this clutch do make noises when letting the clutch out and when shifting..isnt supposed to a twin disc to make noise when u press the clutch in??

thanks!

i dont remember any twin disks making noise when engaging the clutch, however they will make a ton of nasty sounding noises when you engine brake.

my 8 is hard to get into first. no grinding or anything, but you have to REALLY want it in first, especially if your rolling (1-2mph, such as a stop sign)

They definitely make a coffee grinder-like sound when you push the clutch pedal in, whether stopped or shifting gears. At least the one's I've come across do.

I have the exedy hyper single clutch installed in mine and I have the same issues as you have. I have noticed if I put it in gear before I start it I have no problem getting going. Then if I push the clutch in as I'm rolling up to a stop then leave the clutch pressed in and shift into first I have no problems. If I put the car in nuetral and let it sit for a minute then it doesn't want to go into gear. Then I have to turn it off put it in gear and start it again to get going. It's weird and I am getting a new clutch when I get back from this deployment. Oh and mine is noisey under decel as well, it's really annoying.

I posted up here before about it and really didn't get any answers. I've tried adjusting the clutch, took it to a shop and they said it didn't need adjusting. That's why I just finally came to the conclusion of getting a new clutch installed. I don't like how loud the exedy is anyway. Hopefully someone can figure it out though.

adjusting the clutch only pertains to engagement points.. the only way that would help is if your clutch was so far out of whack that the clutch was not fully engaged at the point your pedal was at the floor.

going back to the first reply, when im coming to a slow roll or rolling stop i blip the gas just a hair and it seems to help get in first gear. otherwise it will go in, but you have to brute force the hell out of it to get in.
