Question I need tech input!!!

My car about 3 weeks ago started making this over start type of noise every time I started the car but would never make the noise any other time. I feel it may be the throw out bearing but im not sure. I replaced the clutch with a exedy twin plate about 14k miles ago and replaced the TOB. today the car when at idle is very hard to shift into gear and will not go in reverse. When the car is off shifts smooth and fine through all gears when driving shifts pretty well but can tell its def. a little notchier. For example i get to red light cant down shift the car as im slowing down I would put the car in neutral then when i come to a stop go to put it in first with clutch all the way dopwn and its very hard to get in gear...you think the TOB is done or is it something else the clutch doesnt slip so I dont think thats the problem???

could be the TOB. What about your Transmission lube is it full? When did you change it last? I would start with that and see where it takes you. Good luck

Clutch isnt adjusted properly is all Im sure. Lift the whole car in the air and start it up. Put the car in first and let it spin the tires. Slowly push the clutch in... when the clutch is completely disengaged the tires will stop immediatly. This is the point of where the clutch is fully disengaged. If it is damn near on the floor it is adjust wrong. It should be a few inches from the floorboard. This will probably fix it.

Sounds to me like a clutch problem. As far as adjustment?????,the only adjustment is pedal height and where you like clutch to grab, although it is a Hydro clutch,so there is no Adjusting it.

Your clutch plates may be warped if you've done a lot of high rpm launches. If they are, you work your syncros harder and the clutch won't completely disengage.

Put your car on a hoist and start the engine. push in the clutch and put the car in gear. If the wheels begin to roll with the CLUTCH PUSHED IN, your plates or floater or both are warped.

what would explain the car not going in reverse while the car is at a dead stop? I can get the car in reverse while rolling at idle speed.

My guess is the clutch isn't completely disengaged and the syncros are locking you out. When you are rolling, the syncros move enough for you to switch gears.

If you want an expert's opinion, pm Jon Ripple at Team Rip Engineering. He goes by "Gears" here on Evom.

Most likely what was posted above^^^^^^^^^^,clutch plates warped and not fully
able to disengage, and as far as syncros, reverse is not a syncronized gear

I'm having the same problem I just had my clutch installed @ Buschur like 2 days ago. I have not launched the car at all. This doesn't happen all the time.. maybe 3 or 4 times since I've had the clutch.

Edit: It's also happened once or twice in reverse as well

I've also noticed sometimes when taking off I get the feeling like the disc is warped. I really don't know what to think of this as of yet because otherwise the clutch performs perfect.

i have any exedy twin with 17k and the tob is going bad it makes a bad rattling sound also. i guess the clutch puts a lot of stress on the bearing.

Mine makes a little bit of rattle sound but I did a search and after reading I was assuming this was pretty normal. I really don't care about how it sounds as long as it performs
