Anyone have a back door intercooler setup?

Ive been searching all over evom and cant seem to find any results other than a honda civic

Just wondering if any evo guys have made the change to a back door intercooler setup and shortened the piping going to to/from the intercooler....

Backdoor intercoolers have been used in the honda world for some time and have had a lot of success.

If you have a setup like this, post some pics and details.

Thanks!

The old Buschur Deluxe is a back door style.

Ran one for several years, worked decent until you bottom out the front of the car and kink the inlet pipe.

testudo, how much better did the car spool with this setup?

scheides, you noticed an increase in spool time? Could you make any mods to move the pipe up a bit higher or go around the rad?

I installed the Buschur UICP when I installed the intercooler, so I can't say what the improvement was as a standalone mod. (The UICP with the Buschur intercooler cuts nearly 2 feet of intercooler piping compared to stock)
Throttle response was noticeably better. I would say it improved spoolup ~5-750 rpm's.

Honestly, adding just a LICP would do about the same thing........live and learn.

I think Buschur tested it. On the Dyno it seemed like it didn't affect power any appreciable amount.

Reducing the volume of the system should provide improved transient response though.

I believe CBRD uses a back door style on their time attack car. It's a one off custom piece with a Garret core, if you asked they would probably make one for you at a cost though. Try searching it, it should be an easy find it's relatively recent.

Im thinking a dual backdoor intercooler setup... you would see benefits on both the cold side and hotside. Shorten the piping.
