Evo won't take gas

Help..I have been having this problem for about a month now, and its driving me crazy. Every time I go to fill up, the car takes a little gas then the pump clicks off. I have to basically baby the fuel in the tank. I have tried everything from barley having the fuel spout in the car to pushing it far down the fuel hole. I freaking stumped. Im pretty sure it has to do with the retarded evap system, but not sure. Looking for advice and opinions. Thanks.

Do you continue to go to the same gas station, or is this happening at different gas stations?

It is the EVAP system. I can't remember WTF it is exactly that causes it, but I've seen threads like this within the past 6 months. Sorry I couldn't give deffinate answer's, but better than nothing right?! lol

It's happened to me before, I just pump slower. Some of them seem to flow too much when fully depressed. I guess that's what you've been doing though.

Should I tear the evap system out and smash it? I have already disabled the EGR test through the ECU. Also I live in GA, we have no emissions tests where I live.

I found where Frosty removed the whole system, and I am going to do this as soon as I acquire an EGR block off plate. If you do have a better idea let me know. Damn PC load letter..

Sounds like the leveling valve is stuck shut. It closes off the venting, gas backs up the filler pipe shutting off the dispenser before the tank is completely full - this is normal operation. So, you can imagine what happens if the valve is stuck shut.

Fixed the issue. I disconnected the vacuum line the goes from the leveling switch to the charcoal canister, and it took gas not problem. I believe the charcoal canister is junk. Probably going to remove the evap crap all together. Thanks to Barneyb for the help..

I would try to replace the check valve in the fuel filler neck, mine does the same thing. but if i pump half speed it works fine just takes forever. i have had this issues on other cars at work and replacing the valve or the full filler neck (has valve in it) has fixed this.

+1 on pumping a little slower when it happens to me. Otherwise I jam the filler in and wedge it down relatively hard and it usually works. Threatening the pump whilst cursing also seems to help (me, anyway).
