My guess is that he doesn't realize that when you bolt down the PP you have to work against the spring pressure to get the bolts in. It can be difficult to get them started. I know this because when I put mine on I thought at first that the pins that help line up the bolt holes were off and it wouldn't bolt down. Turned out I just had to get a few threads on the first bolt, tap it with a rubber mallet, and push hard on the other side to get the bolts started. Once they are started just tighten them one at a time to walk the PP all the way in.

I bet that is the issue. The xtss has an extra stiff spring on the pressure plate too so it's probably pretty hard to push against when installing. He might need to put some clamps on it to get it bolted.

All this said he is a mechanic and should know this stuff so I would debate taking it somewhere else. Considering he is at the point of putting the thing back together maybe you should just let him finish. You're more that half done.

I agree, he's got the tranny off doesn't he? Tell him to just try it.

BTW: The last time I put in my clutch the disc wasn't aligned properly and I swore up and down it was. Maybe he made the same mistake.

*EDIT*
+2 on this one!

Sounds like you went to the wrong place.

Alignment tool is a must. It is really not hard to do a clutch job with the right tools. Print out the evomoto.com how install a clutch, that's what I used and it worked perfect(they even use an ACT clutch)

ehhh, if he honestly doesnt know what he is doing, why do you wanna risk the chance of him totally fubaring it up? If he rocks like regular ATF, and over tightens them or under tightens them you will be in a world of pain. Talk to him, see what he doesnt understand. Allow a rep to talk him through it from ACT at the bare minimum.

If he doesnt feel comfortable forcing it in his opinion dont let him!

Take your car somewere else, or you'll be paying for his mistakes down the road. An make sure you call him an idiot before you take your car out of there.

Thanks for all the help. Im hoping to get to the bottom of this problem. I think that the problem will end up being the flywheel. I sent a ACT flywheel down to him but i bet he is trying to bolt it up to the one that is on the car. As soon as i figure out what this guy is doing wrong ill let him know what he should be doing.
