Yah working off the ground. I have a low trans jack so tranny is on that. Also when i took the trans off i had to loosin the tcase banjo bolt and lost alot of fluid. Do i just refill with the ATF fluid in that reservoir by the driver side headlight? What kind of ATF fluid should I use?

You can buy the ACD fluid at the dealer for lik 5-6$ for a bottle (it's less than a quart, IIRC). I can't remember what type of ATF it is. I'm sure you can search that up if you want to buy it at an autozone.

Here..did a search for you:
Fluid:

ACD bleeding:
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...eding-acd.html

Just remember to fill the reservoir up all the way to the top before bleeding (you will need a 2nd person underneath). After it's bled real good (all air out), bleed it some more just to get the fluid level about a 3/4" below the max line because the fluid level will rise after you drive it. You will probably have to use a turkey baster or straws to remove some of the excess fluid the next day.

To bleed it, turn the key to the "on" position (not start), put the gas pedal to the floor and hold it until you hear the ACD pump turn on (it will one only for a ssecond or two). You will have to do this many times. Just remember to keep filling the reservoir while bleeding. Also remember that the fluid level will rise after you drive it around, so don't top it off after you are done bleeding it. Keep it a little bit below the max line.

I thought the rope around the cross bar was a good trick.

Go in through the right wheel well.

If you have access to one of these it was awesome. It's a motorcycle jack.

I got mine in the first try.

Great stuff everyone. Thanks again. My trans jack looks similar and should do the trick. Did you have to unbolt the shifter assembly to twist it to get it to fit around the mount? I had to do that to take it off wasn't sure if I would need to do the same to put it on.

Also what was the rope for? was that just to hold it?

a hoist to manipulate the engine from the top is a good idea, but with a jack like this I don't think u will have a problem. My jack was my arms so a top engine hoist help to angle the engine lower on the tranny side. Any way you put it is not easy. Best of luck

Yeah the rope just helped it from falling and held it steady when your arms get tired. The cherry picker engine hoist helped but the drawback of it is the wheels and legs of it get in the way a little under the car.

The clearance is unbelievably tight. The tall bolts that bolt to the motor mount on the driver side are hard to sneak past everything. I thought about dropping the steering rack but in the end I just barely squeaked by it.

I had my engine tilted down as low as it would go. The pully was up against the passenger fender. Like I said though.. first try.. didn't even knock my retainer clip off once.

Good luck i just used 1jack to support the engine 1 to support the trans under the seam and 1 to support the back of the trans also removed the bumper to give a little more visibility\space and took my time. Make sure u find the clip that locks the ring in place should just pop in if it's not mangled too badly I'd just get a new one.

i am starting to think the 6sp is different than the 5sp. I am having a hell of a time getting the shifter counter weights to clear the inner fender and motor mount. THIS SUCKS...
