bogging inbetween shifts...... why?

Why is it an evo will bog inbetween shifts? Im not missing gears, im not shifting slow.. whats the trick here? can we not floor the car after the initial shift into gear or? It basically stops for a half second then continues like something is telling the ecu to cut fuel? Its mostly going from 2nd into 3rd.... never 1st going into 2nd. what gives? is it my rom? cars an 2004 evo 8 GSR has no acd or anything.

maybe the clutch isn't disengaging fully? Is there a differance if you do it at a high rpm compared to a lower??

usually its because you are engaging the clutch at the wrong engine rpm so when the clutch grabs it has to either speed up or be slown down to match the revs of the motor, thus causing the bogging feling.

your right foot is to fast or slow for your left.

What i think he is referring to is the turbo lag between shifts. i know the feeling your talking about. i have a turbo II rx7 and it doesn't have this kind of lag between shifts.. so i would assume its a evo thing....

I think people on this forum constantly mis-use the term "Turbo Lag."

Anyway I think he's referring to the brief sputter when rolling back on the throttle out of boost.

Well the feeling i get is after a shift it feels like it takes a second to hit full boost after the shift, its as if the turbo is have to spool up again. i donno if thats the same thing he is talking about, but thats what mine feels like..

no this is as bad a fuel cut jerking of the car. Its a nasty bog inbetween every shift unless i speed shift.. this is tune related right? You basically cannot shift the car at 7grand taking it easy or it does this nasty bog / fuel cut type deal at around 8psi and the A/F goes lean as hell when it does it.

This sounds like a tune issue, but your signature shows Ivey tuned your car - so highly unlikely a tune issue....Just address with Ivey, he'll get the issue resolved.

its fixed now. I did have NLTS enabled though, but when i tested to see if the NLTS was working it wasnt. I think we just used the original rom with the current tune and maybe he altered the fuel map slightly to richen it up inbetween shifting.

I think just the rom and some slight a/f changes at shift points.
