well i was driving my VIII today an i stopped to fill her up, an after leaving the gas station, my battery light, anti-lock light, and brake light, were all on and then i looked over at my speedo and all 3 of the ACD light were on, does anyone know WTF that means? nothin was wrong with the car , abs wasnt makin any noises or anything the car was running like a champ i just cant figure out what it was. help please?

 

Check ur fuses... that happend to mee too, just blew a couple of fuses and everything was fine...

 

This happened to me when my alternator started to die, eventually the alternator dies completely and your car will run on just the remaining battery power until your car dies and won't start again. If a ground comes loose this could happen as well. Just a guess.

 

how much was the alternator to get replaced?

 

ohhhhh, i forgot to mention that after letting the car idle for 30 mins at my house cuz i didnt kno what was wrong, all the lights turned off, i didnt know if that happened to yours or not?

 

Yeah everything died on mine because the car was running on just battery power since the alternator was dead and not recharging the battery. I'm not sure how much a new one is because I bought a used one locally for $80. It's easy to change all you have to do is take the tension off the belts, move your ABS bracket/strut bar out of the way and unbolt the alternator and pull it out.

 

Yea sounds like alternator. They're like $240 from the dealer, I'd find a used one. I think Mike@AWD has used ones.

 

yeah im gonna have to look into that, about how long after that happened did the alernator die?

 

fuses and maybe a loose wire, or alternator and wires that go to alternator.

 

yeah this sucks no im all worried about it, my luck the damn thing will die on me while im away from home, so where do i get a cheap used one from?

Search on here in the parts section or if you want it brand new at like Auto Zone or something i think they give you a discount if you bring the old one in. Not sure though.
