Balance Shaft Vibration , Help !
So I like many other people had their 60K service done and wound up with what i thought to be a balance shaft being out of phase. Rough running, loud, vibration at 4000rpm.
So I finally figured out what was wrong, brought it back to the shop explained this to them etc etc..
I get a call from them a few minutes ago and they are telling me they checked if the Balance shaft was in phase with the screwdriver technique. They assured me that the screw driver went in the proper amount, measured and marked etc.
Any insight on what else I should have the shop look into, They are convinced that its in time/ phase and that if they rip the t-belt and such off, to redo the service they will just put it back the way it is now according to the manual.
Any help is appreciated, the vibration is driving me ape ****.

and this started immediately after the 60k service was done? If so its clear that is your problem. I have been guilty before of getting the front shaft out of phase, corrected it and the noise immediately went away.
To my knowledge the screw driver is for the oil pump phase cuz thats how i did it when i replaced my timing belt in my car so i will say the balance shafts are out of synch. that will make the engine vibrate...
Anyone seem to find out the problem? When I rev the car to 4,000rpm it has vibration & tiny sounds, only thing I can find is my down pipe being close to the a/c condenser pipe at least a 1cm or 2 apart from each other... Haven't got the balance shaft belt checked, any chance its that?
^^^ What he said, had the same problem. The balance shaft was out of phase by 180, it's really easy to check once you have everything off. The notch on the sprocket should line up with the one on the engine, when you turn the sprocket left and right by say 25* and let it go, it should move towards the notch on the engine, or at least not turn away from it.

Also, you will destroy your main bearings if you keep driving it like this. I had to rebuild a customers bottom end because some random hack shop decided they would sell him a timing belt service and wouldnt own up to the failure. The front and the rear were 6 teeth off.
There's a simple way to make sure your balance shaft is set properly. You simply rotate it and if it falls away from the timing mark when you let go it's not correct. If it falls towards the timing mark, it's good.
