no they are not. what I do realize is if this 06 car is listed as 990kg my mirage was listed as 880kg. then you have to add a bunch of weight to make the car turbo/4g63/AWD.

What 99.99% of people dont know is manufacture vehicle posted weights are always about 200lbs lighter than actual weight of vehicle. I dont know why this is but it is 100% true. The weight posted on titles here in the USA is 200lbs lighter than actual. I have found this to be true from 30 years of buying and selling cars and taking cars to the dump to be weighed. Here is a website that lists most if not all the japanese wehicles ever made. Its in japanese but pictures of each vehicle clearly show which models we are talking about. "manufacture suggested hopeful weights are posted" The chassis I used was the lightest chassis they made. you can use this chart to compare vehicle to vehicle for weight, but you have to ad ~100 kilo to every car to get its actual weight. mitsu did not make an evo 2 door car. they did make some of the 2 doors in awd but they are devoid of much weight due to the little N/A engine they came with. turbos add 75lb. DOHC engine adds 35lbs, proper brakes adds 25lbs. etc etc. it adds up quick. http://www.goo-net.com/catalog/MITSU...AGE/index.html

just weighed my car at the refuse station with 1/2 tank of gas:

1280kg with me (95kg) - ~2816lbs
1185kg without me - ~2607lbs
1140 kg (estimated) racing trim without tools and interior - ~2508lbs.

Yeah those scales we used last time must have been off.

that clears things up!

Time slips from NightSpeed dragwars at Meremere in New Zealand.

Me on the left. I lost to the GTR (on the right) by 0.05 of a sec!!!

Had so much fun!

Super wheel spin off the line.

I'll put the LSD in this week, and i've got a new set of tyres, 205/55/15's Potenza S03's.

Might even raise the rev limit to 8000rpm, i have to shift into 5th as is.

looks like fun. what size tire was on car? the weight of car sounds good to me. I would be all over one of these at 2600lbs with full interior.

running 205/50/15, just normal street tyres.
Car would have been about 1140kg (2500lb) for racing.

ran the car again at Night Speed Drag wars at Meremere.

Did a 11.973 @ 180.24kph. 1.709 60ft.

They prepped the track this time, so traction was hard to get consistant. i was bogging down, and then wheelspinning, then tramming etc.

My trap speed was down a little cause i moved my intake timing from +4 to 0 when i was dialling in the cams, so i left them there. +4 seems to increase midrange alot, which helps for off the line without bogging down.

New Tyres and wheels worked a treat, even though they are just street tyres. Still was just changing into 5th at the end of the trip, i could raise the rev limit by about 200rpm to squeeze over in 4th, but i dont think it's neccessary.

The Mirage will be getting a quick reflash done on the evo6 ecu this coming week. I hope to keep it conservative, but hopefully pick the power up to about 250kwatw.

Cheers, Mike

Car is going to get reflashed wednesday night.
I'll be checking my dodgy road tune, and throwing in a whole heap of timing because of the cams.
I'll only be going to about 240kwatw, because i'm still running standard injectors.

3" exhaust and Link G4 Ecu (same specs are ViPec) will be fabricated/fitted in December. We'll be tuning/timing for maximum response. I dont really wanna run past 260kwatw on the standard block (remember this is evo6 block with 60k+ miles on it).

I'm going to get the parts together to build a simple 2.3/2.4 engine.
If i bought a runabout car i could do this to my engine, but i dont have one so i'll look for cheap parts to put something together, so i can keep my car on the road.

overall my goals are about 300-320kwatw with mega response.
This is an everyday car, and i like to drive like i stole it.
I'm looking into a HKS twin plate GD Max clutch. I'm hoping it'll cope with the increased torque of a stroker motor.

Any questions/suggestions, feel free!

Mike,

That is the factory radiator? That is exactly the one I need for my car. I prefer factory parts but I want the relocated upper hose neck which I hadnt seen until now.

I believe I've read on here that the evo 4-6 used a radiator with the neck in that location. Here's a thread with them for sale.

As John said, standard 4-6 radiator... gotta love mitsi's, everything is interchangeable

I've got a 52mm alloy radiator to go in, just haven't gotten around to it yet

pics and results from my reflash -

We did a run at about 20-21psi and made 260kwatw, but it was running out of fuel, with the AFR getting leaner from 6000rpm.

(bear in mind that the dyno graph is a 6sec run, i get full boost in 5th gear at about 3900-4000rpm on the street, that run is similar to 2nd gear on the road)

The gains in spooling was made with 5* advance intake / 3* advance exhaust and a little ignition timing, although the ig timing didn't change the spooling alot.
The change from 0 to 3 degrees exhaust timing did almost nothing, so kept it there for idle quality (less overlap).
We wanted to try more than 5* intake advance, but didn't know the limit before we'd have the pistons kissing the valves.

Next on the list is Link ECU, with 1000cc injectors. i'm going to tune to 280kwatw max, i wont go over that with the standard block.

Then it's 2.3 stroker with hopefully a Mivec head.
I'm still not happy with the response (i.e. Lag) of the kelford cams, so i might be swapping them for a set of 264/272 HKS cams if i dont goto the Mivec head.

There is still alot of development to be put into the car. It's running a **** 2.5" exhaust. A crap front mount IC setup, and a cheap chinese exhaust manifold.
I'll have all those areas tidy'd up before i rebuild the motor.

And dont get me started on the suspension!!

Cheers, Mike
