JohnBradley's 2.2 long rod build
Is the peak power limited to lower rpm strictly a function of piston speed? Meaning faster piston speed = torque at lower rpm, and lower piston speed = torque at upper rpm?
I assume you want to drag race if your not happy with the torque at upper rpm. Is that correct?
What are you gonna do with your 2.2l?
I have to say, it's nutz how you don't need to rev a stoker. With my 2.4l on the road, I find I rarely go over 7.5k when driving hard.

CR,
Its a little of both. My 2.2 was 2235cc, peak piston speed was as you pointed out geared toward a lower powerband. The 2.1 reaches peak piston speed about 500rpm higher and being 2095cc it should allow the same turbo to reach peak VE higher and get me peak power at 8400 or so and then allow me to over rev about the same.
2.2 is slated for a customer car.
I do like the torque of the bigger motors, but I am a rev junky. If it doesnt rev like my bike I lose interest
lol

Ya I don't think Aaron will be going 9500 in this setup
He is going to the moon!Eric you know what it is right?

Nope
There wont be a new build thread but maybe an update in the first post.
SO>>>>
The new 9:1 long rod 2.4 is up and running with 35 miles on it since last night at 11 (I woke up early just to go driving).
Specs-
Custom 9:1 86.5mm JE pistons (soon to have a part number and stocking status)
Stock 100mm crank
PE 1.2mm headgasket
ER assembled long block
The same Jeff Bush ported head
GSC 156mm steel rods
GSC Secret cams...all I will say is 12mm of lift
FIC 2150s
Further modified MIVEC cam gear
...more or less everything else is the same
There was some debate as to whether this is even going to dyno on gas or just wait till its broke in and go straight to E98. As much as I would love to rev this to 9500 the limit is going to be set at 8300 for this combo. Piston speed is a touch over 27m/s at that level so I will be content. I think the 2.2 was peaking at something like 31m/s which as I recall Eric telling me exceeds F1 piston speed.
Jon bought TJ's old ride.
