aftermarket intake manifold?

I am looking into buying an aftermarket intake manifold for my 03 evo and I was trying to figure out if it makes daily driving more difficult, if its worth the price, and who offers the best one. I was looking at strictly modifieds JM fab- and imput would be great

Where to start....

There's AMS, JMFab, Buschur's new Fabricated one that I've been wanting, Driven Innovations, Magnus, many more.

The stock ported intake is awesome though.

"For optimimum performance we recommend this intake be ran on cars making 550whp or more. If you're below 550whp our ported stock intake manifold will be your best choice which comes in at a service price of only $149."

by the way GO LANCER GO thats what buschurs says-

Buschur did testing with different manifolds, the results were very complete and you can get an idea of what will work for your needs. Ive used the Driven Innovations myself and was very happy.

It's possible the seller was talking about the throttle control getting a bit more sensitive. Usually intake manifolds get you a larger throttle body bore, among all the other things, which leads to more air/fuel getting to the motor but at the same pedal input.

What is your ultimate setup going to be?...Were you going to stick with the stock turbo? If not, what turbo were you looking at? I have the JM Fab "Drag" IM. Besides looking awesome it works well too. It has not made driving more or less difficult. I drive ~50 miles per day in rush hour so the car feels the same (as far as driveability) from when I had the stock IM to the JM Fab one. For your hp goal you may just want to stick with the stock IM. Some people choose to port it. JM Fab also makes a "Race" IM which is more geared towards smaller turbo setups. I have heard some good things from DI as well.

For 450hp I would use the stock TB, you can always upgrade at a later time with their manifold.

You should really look into our Rev3 intake manifold as its the best of both worlds IMHO. We modify the stock intake manifold yielding significant increases throughout the power band without the low and midrange RPM losses you will experience with just about any aftermarket manifold based on the increase in plenum size.

If you do decide to go with an aftermarket unit you really can't beat the Magnus cast intake manifold, check out this thread for review after review of significant gains.
