exedy lightweight flywheel

does anyone have experience with exedys lightweight flywheel? ive heard the fidanza ring gear horror stories, and that the act ones lockout past a certain rpm. I have heard only good things about exedy tho, so can someone help me make a final decision?

I see that you read my thread about my broken Fidanza piece of crap. You should be fine with any flywheel that use one piece steel construction. I would say just use your OEM one, you cant go wrong with that. The OEM flywheel is very light already.

i did read your post- and a few others like it- so ill pass on the fidanza, i would use the oem flywheel but im doing a full build and want to do everything possible (within my means). I think it may regret it if i dont upgrade now bc if the engine gets balanced for the stock flywheel i could encounter problems when/if i try to switch down the road.

Another thought i had was about the weight. Is the reason for lockout issues with the act flywheels due to their weight, or improper installation? if its bc of a bad install, what should i do to make sure i dont have engagement or lockout problems.

I am planning on using a falcon six puck disc with springs (may go to a 4 puck springless), and their pressure plate.(no $$ for tilton/exedy triple or anything fancy),

I havent had any lock out issues with my ACT; I have the sprung six puck. I have heard that upgrading to an braided clutch line, that doesnt have the restricter pill in it can also help. Ive noticed that most people that i hear of with that problem are using the street disk (full face organic). I think if you go with the HD-G6 and a ACT or Exedy flywheel you should be fine.

I believe the ACT lockout problems only occur with the full face disc, flywheel doesn't come into play with that. Whichever route you decide to go let me know, we can get the ACT, Competition Clutch steel, or even the Exedy if you really want to go that route, its just a lot more expensive for essentially the same thing...

ok, so in theory, if i use a 6 (or 4) puck with a braided clutch line, i should not have lockout problems regardless of flywheel? even so i may still go with exedy.....

could anyone tell me why a full face disk would cause these issues? the stock clutch was a full face, i feel like theres some other factor missing in the lockout equation.

i appreciate the input from everyone, and im gonna pm Chris from map for some prices!
