I have an exedy triple flywheel that needs resurfaced. I have heard that i need to resurfaced the "dowels" as well as the surface as the flywheel in order to keep it in spec.

is this something i need to look at doing, and can anyone who can turn a flywheel do it?

You're on the right track. Find a machine shop with a Blanchard grinder, whatever is removed from the flywheel friction surface must be removed from the towers.

 

Thank you for the info. what about the intermediate plates, should they be resurfaced if they are close to being brand new?

 

Yeah be careful I just went to a shop a transmission expert place and they said it can't be done when I know it can I have had it done before so check with a machine shop
