Question whats the best boost control

for all you evo owners out there using mechanical or electric boost control devices.

which one are you using, and how is treating you so far?

any profesional tuners want to shed some light on this subject, from your past experiences, please do so. it will help alot of us evo owners make the right choice.

Yeah, the Blitz SBC-id/Power Meter-id is a good combo. I got the type III and love it. I love being in Japan, all the good stuff is over here. You guys only got the type I in the US huh? Except for ordering from japan?

Good Thread.

Has anyone heard any positives or negatives about the Greddy PROFEC-E01. I already know the screen is huge!

I use to have a HKS EVC on my eclipse but after 5 years it started freaking out. So I switched to a Hallman Pro right before I traded my Eclipse on my Evo and it Held rock soild and looked great under the hood. plus only cost $99

So how did you guys calibrate your Powermeters? I have tapped into pin 86 on ECU, pin 63 on ETACS-ECU and speed sensor itself, and none of those locations provide accurate calibration. Where did you tap the orange wire, and at what speed did you calibrate?

thanks, still undecided, dont know what to buy. mechanical cheaper easier way(installation) to go, but isnt true that the mechanical will need constant adjsuting to temp change? where as electronic hold settings and adjusts on its own where needed.

Anybody else have any bad experiences with elctronic or mechanical since were on the subject.

I run an MBC from my old celica (twosrus) and it seems to work fine. You have to be careful with any boost controller in terms of how you run your lines, no kinks, away from heat sources, etc, because this can cause creep or spiking, but once I cleared that up things seem fine and fairly stable. We've had temps ranging from the 40's to the 70's and I haven't had to readjust it.

calibration has nothing to do with where u tap the wire, as long as it's on the speed imput thats fine.... You need to ride along at 25mph and calibrate it through the Powermeter, it's not going to be 100% on but it will give u a decent estimate... Mines usually about 3-4 mph off on an average.

You are the first person I have found that has gotten it to work on an Evo, so if it is not too much trouble, let me know where you tapped. I don't mind if it is a little off, but after calibration at 25 mph, I get a 40 mph reading of like 160. Since our speed sensors output 4 pulses per revolution, and some cars(not Evos to my knowledge) come equipped with speed converters for that signal, it might matter. Just for kicks, what is your power loss set to, although that should have no bearing on speed calibration.
