My EvoIX SE w/ FP Black and stock block

I saw the FP Black dyno today, it is absolutely nasty. I'm sure FP will be posting the numbers soon. I picked up mine from FP at the same time, and will be installing it on my car.

Relevant info on the car;

'06 IX SE 20k miles

Stock block
Stock head
FP4 cams
FP beehive springs

FP Black turbo
ported turbine housing
25psi wastegate actuator

Wilson W2.3+ 9sec9 intake manifold
Garrett (Buschur) intercooler
stock airbox w/ K&N drop-in

Exedy HD twin-disc clutch

Injector Dynamics 1000cc injectors
Weldon fuel pressure regulator
Bosch -044 pump

Stock ECU w/ Tephra7
Motec M800
FJO Wideband
AiM MXL Strada dash

I will be setting it up on the stock ECU to start with and migrating over to speed density on the Motec. My plan is to document what can be done with the stock block with relative safety, and then drop in a 2.3L block and set it to kill. The main goal of the car is to stay absolutely as stock appearing as possible yet still be able to put down 600whp. It's probably possible to do that on the stock block, I don't know how far I'll be willing to push it before going to the built bottom end though.

Here's a picture of the turbo, I injured my wrist in a hockey game earlier this week so as soon as I can turn a wrench it will be going on the car along with some fresh clutch discs for the Exedy twin.

Good luck with the stock airbox especially when you go to the stroker.. Kinda necessary to get an intake

+1 doesn't FP recomend an intake @25psi and over to prevent the hose from collapsing and causing compressor damage?

3" pipe mated to the MAF/Stock box, they're readily available.

Oh, I thought somehow he was trying to use the stock intake pipe...I know about the 3 inch intake with stock airbox...

cool build, post pics as it gets installed and tuning gets underway. Boost plots on your setup would be greatly appreciated! What fuel will you be using?

I will definitely have to do something with the intake. I've been logging the baro sensor on the stock MAF to get an idea of the restriction in the stock pipe, at ~25psi on the stock turbo with a modified lid it hasn't been a problem. Before modifying the lid though the baro reading was dropping through the floor and it was obviously a restriction. You can't get it out if you can't get it in! Using the EVO-M comparator setting on the VDC spreadsheet I'm making ~365whp at 25psi on the stock turbo with 93 octane pump gas. I tried to take it to Cobb Tuning in Dallas to dyno, but they refused to let it on the dyno unless I let them toon the car at the same time. Seems kind of silly, "How about I pay you to tune it, but you don't?" -- "No, it's $xxx for 3 pulls and tuning that's the only service we offer" -- "Ok, thank you for your time, have a nice life".

I'm using the FP 80mm intake pipe, here's a picture:

To answer an above question, I'll be running it on 93 octane pump gas until it becomes an issue. I've got an ethanol content sensor and am planning on setting it up in the Motec to run as a Flexfuel vehicle. I guess the Motec is hiding out in that photo as well. Here's another shot, and of my test bench.

Here's the flying lead harness from Autosport Wiring that I will be using to adapt the M800 gold box to the factory wiring harness. Aside from a few Motec specific sensors (fuel pressure, etc) it'll be using the stock wiring harness.

I know on the Black that using the stock airbox is a joke. As one of the major goals of the car is stock appearance, I've been working on a couple solutions to the problem to keep it as stealth as possible as long as possible. The FP test car (making over 600hp on a mustang dyno) did so with a stock upper intercooler pipe and a MAF. I would like to do it with a stock, or at least stock(ish) appearing airbox. FP was using a standard cone filter though. Especially in the Texas heat, the intake temps with a cone filter start getting ridiculous during the summer.

Here's some pictures of the Wilson Manifold install:

The Wilson manifold is just beautiful. It fits the goals of my project perfectly as well, it is as stock appearing as it gets. The sonic cleaning process they use is amazing. The thing was so clean it literally squeaks, I felt bad putting it on the car. The portwork inside the plenum is crazy. I've included a couple of shots (above) to try to give an idea of the quality work that goes into these things.

Since everyone likes pictures here are some more of the Black model turbo:

I was having trouble getting good enough light to get a decent shot of the turbine wheel. It's not very exciting though. I'll post more information this week, hopefully I will be able to get the wrist brace off and everything installed soon.

best of luck. I will be doing the same thing for the most part, except I will be switching over to a 2.4 instead of a 2.3. I'm curious to see your results...what fuel and psi will you be running? I'll post up my results either at the end of this week or the beginning of next week but I will be running the FP Black on E85 and I'm going to start at 25 psi and go up from there until I hit 450 whp on the mustang dyno, maybe a little less. Then once the 2.4 goes in it will be ***** to the wall.
