wtf

I was driving home this evening and started to pass a vehicle when all the sudden my car had a miss (probubly from incorrect gaping of the plug) which happens every now and then but this time it had a miss and right after that it like puttered really bad and started making the loud tapping sound. At idle you can bearly hear it with the hood closed. But every time your engine revs up the sound gets louder. My car always had the light tapping sound that everybody talks about but this one is def. not the same. Any ideas? It didnt throw any codes it idels fine, doesnt over heat and drives fine. Maybe not burning the fuel in one cylinder correcty or what?

What kind of plugs are you using? Iridium plugs I didn't think you were supposed to gap.

I would check the plug. Not sure it would make that noise and you would feel it if the plug was bad.

does bosch make iridium plugs? they might have given you double platinum or something. if it was fine before you changed the plugs, i would put stock or ngk iridiums in to eliminate that. if it still does it, you will have to go deeper.

And this is why I don't get this forum sometimes.

The OEM iridiums are a long lasting plug. The cheap copper replacement NGK B series are proven to work time and time again and are dirt cheap.

Sounds to me like you broke part of your electrode off and it was/is bouncing around in you cylinder. But, since it only takes like 5 minutes to pull the plug, why don't you check???

^ +1, it takes very little time to do something like check the plugs, just remember K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Stupid) start with everything simple, like the plugs, oil level, and things like that, and dont assume because something was recently replaced thats not it and not even check, it could be a faulty plug, or maybe wrong gap. if spark plugs arent your issue, check ur compression, and check to see your timing is good and see if it maybe jumped timing

Im gunna check today. It was to dark last night (damn wife picked a house WITHOUT A GARAGE). As for the plugs i have ran the same brand in them for about a year now so the plugs do work. Oil level is fine i check it almost every day. I was thinking maybe the rod bent a bit or valve spring broke. Ill check then post what i find out.

If they "worked", you wouldn't have a miss now and then. Put the correct NGKs back in the car (assuming you didn't hurt something else more serious).

Ok let me get this straight, im running the ngk's right now and have been for about a year. I recently like 2 days ago replaced them with the same ngk's just new ones. It had a slight miss only when you would get on it at about 6 rpm. I i parked it till last night when i had to run to town. As i was passing someone it had a miss and the puttered and now its ticking. I pulled the cover off and all the springs are fine not cracked or broken. And still as you rev the engine the ticking gets louder. I dont know how to check timing. guess ill look that up.

Is it a tick or a knock? If the answer is knock then maybe she's getting ready to throw a rod.
