slipping
I have a 2003 mitsubishi evo 8. It has a stage 3 exedy clutch kit installed. My problem. The car has only 10k on it. I bought the car from my friend and the car has been sitting in his garage for 2 years without moving or starting. I got the car about 2 weeks ago. Everytime I step on the clutch, it makes a grinding noise. Also, when i'm driving it, I punch the gas, the car will do a quick pick but then the rpm goes up but the car don't doesn't do anything. Do you think my clutch is getting bad? What's causing the grinding noise? HELP!!!
If it is indeed an Exedy triple, welcome to the world of multiplate clutches, and they make noise, triples especially. A LOT sometimes with the pedal pushed in at idle and in between shifts. In regards to the slipping, if you put the car in a higher gear and hit the gas, does it slip or hold strong? If it slips, the clutch is on the way out, if not, could be another drivetrain issue.
I've check everything, the engine is fully built, it's doing about 600+hp at 30psi. Right now, it's only set at 22psi. also, when I punch the gas, it started to choke at about 7000rpm.
Choke? The point is to have the clutch engaged and be in a higher gear than normal and hit the gas to see if the clutch slips. That was the point of doing that. So your saying the engine has trouble revving over 7k? Thats a different problem (probably) entirely. I thought you said the clutch slipped regardless of any power increasing, if that is so how are you even getting it up that high in the RPM band? I would say that this car sitting around has had serious repercussions on its reliability. Did you do a compression test?
