Royal Purple use in tranny/rear diff.?
with shipping 3 Qts of MT-90 and 2 Qts of 70w90 cost me 53 bucks. I couldn't find a solid answer on how much each (tranny, transfer, and diff) uses.
Still an open question...anyone know?

Had my tranny refilled today . This time with Red line mt-90 gl-4.
Only driven it about 30 miles , and it does feel alot better than the Royal purple I had in there for about a week. I guess the tranny syncros really dont like the more slick gl-5 fluids.
Anyways I still have a very notchy , at times shifter, I have tried almost everything to get rid of this. First tranny change at about 3k miles, then the clutch line, then royal purple, now red line......Im about to say Fouck it, and let the damn thing either be like this or blow up,,,, then get a new one,,,,,,, then finally mod this thing to the hilt.......I might try the washer removal thingy here???
Im trying to be patient here..........Wish I could drive all of your evos and see if it feels like mine, maybe its just the car.
And I advise that you stay with gl-4 for the tranny. So No royal Purple in there.
My red line was $13/ quart

The GM syncroshift fuild works wonders... so much so that my Mitsu $teelerships carry and sale the stuff... Now what does that say? I forget the part number to get it at your local Chevy dealership, but I'd bet your local
has it.
has it.
i don't know if Royal Purple formulates the drivetrain oil the same as the engine oil, but i wouldn't use it... my friend, who is a Ford mechanic used Royal Purple, and changed every 2500-3k miles.. well his engine gets damaged due to a nitrous encounter and when he took apart his motor, all the oil was sludge and all his bearings were shot... the nitrous had nothing to do with the condition of the oil (for some people who would like to put those 2 together) like i said i don't know if it's the same formula, but i'm willing to bet it does the same thing.... i have heard of Royal Purple doing this to multiple other engines in anything from Import to Domestic....i use mobil 1 synthetic and factory transmission oils...
So has any one used the Redline MTL in their trans ? I have used it in the past on other makes of cars and loved it.
I need to change mine and wondered what the diff with MTL and MT-90.

...Sorry it was a long day when I posted, and I now have a spitting headache. I believe the stuff is called GM syncromesh. Your
stealership probably stocks it as do the two here in Austin. I believe it was the dealer "fix" for notchy boxes in the earlier Eclipses... Yes, it is a GM product.
