Coil dwell settings looked fine, i have a wiring diagram for the car, and went thru most of the wiring between the coil and EMS

ive had mine for years now and no probs. does your dli have a good ground?. the light shouldnt flicker. with my experience, the light should also get brighter the higher you rev the engine.

The new DLI doesnt flicker like the old one, it is dim though when the coil pack for cyl #4 fails. I havent seen what it does when the car is running on all cylinders.
Could a bad batch of gas cause an intermittent failure on my coil ?

no. i dont think bad fuel will do this to your coil. so you bought another dli? and it fried another coil?. will you post pics please. i have dli 2. and i only had one coil fry. symtoms where stuttering/missing when i build boost"26psi" and then threw a code misfire blah blah i forget which but i replaced the coil used a .022 plug gap "ngk iridium bpr7eix" and no probs since. replaced the plugs first, same symtoms so i trouble shoot for the coil. i had to borrow my buddys coil to make sure that it was the coil. im still going to switch to spark tec non cdi ingition system for the win though.

I may need to get another coil and make sure I didnt get a faulty one, or the new ones didnt go bad during troubleshooting the issue. I wish I new someone close to me with an Evo to test parts with, instead of throwing money away on parts I may not need.

yeah man i would like to be there myself cause i like to help people out but, im in afghanistan right now. and yes i would try and find someone that trust you too switch out parts just to do the testing part to make sure its the coil. just keep digging bro and youll find the problem. if the dli isnt flickering anymore its probaly the coil or plugs are gapped still to big. keep me posted on what the problem was when you fix it. check everything the boots, wires, plug gap, the coil, sometimes water can get in the hole with the spark plugs and make it miss also.

ok, so i ordered factory coils, came in today, installed them. Now my coil for cyl #2 and #3 is not getting a signal. The car starts, but runs in limp mode. I pulled the plug on the coil for cyl#2 and the car stays running, while when I pull the plug on coil for cyl#4 the car stalls. I swapped coils, and it does the same thing. I dont think I am getting a good signal for the coil on cyl#2. I pulled my ECU and was inspecting the wires and I found two wires that had cuts on them. One was a black wire, that I traced back to the ground on the coils (from the wiring diagram), and the other red/yellow wire (goes to the 02 sensors). Could a bad ground have something to do with this ? Why is it only affecting one coil ?
