IX MR drain plug relocation question

Anyone know if its possible to fit some kind of adapter to the drain plug with the temperature sensor so you can plug it into one of the ports on the oil filter housing? What sparked my curiosity was that I was thinking of running a magnetic drain plug, and maybe putting the stock drain plug with the temp sensor in the oil filter housing and having the MR oil temp gauge still work.

Anyone?

I am not sure. I ditched the OEM set up. Kinda baffled me when i saw that is where they decided to tap into. I plugged into one of the screw holes by the oil filter housing.

Hmm... I still want to keep the gauges for now, even though I may ditch them later. If there is no adapter that I can use, maybe I can get one machined from brass? Anyone know the exact thread specs on the MR drain plug and the specs on the port I should be using on the oil filter housing? Btw, which port should I use?

Or am I wasting my time because magnetic drain plugs for the engine are a waste? I've got no experience with them, so I'll search a bit about them to see if they are effective so I'm not wasting my time on thinking of doing this little change.

I know the oil temp sensor that Defi makes will work with the stock oil temp guage. Get ahold of them, and use the wiring in the car from the stock temp sensor...

I may go that route, but I'd really like to know if I could just use an adapter, that is if one exists. Mainly because it would be a lil cheaper IMO.

All three of mine work fine.
I am just thinking about relocating the drain plug, which has the oil temp sensor in it, to the oil filter housing somehow and then run a magnetic drain plug.
