Evo making low boost

I just got finished putting the car back together. (It was a theft recovery that had most everything under the hood striped) Anyway, the car has a few light mods i.e. downpipe, exhaust, 272 cams, intake, evo 9 turbo. But the car has a stock tune and I was wondering if that would cause it to have low boost? I hooked a boost gauge up to the car and drove down the road, the car jumps to 11psi and stays there. also the egr and evap system are not hooked up on the car, but from what I have read it should not make a difference. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks, James King

^ yup

you will hear most boost controllers sucking in air when they're reversed

Edit: just realized you meant the stock bcs

bump for more possibilities, i switched the lines and there was no change. maybe someone could elaborate on how to run the lines, even though I believe they are correct. And other suggestions are appreciated. Thanks, James King

Are you using the stock BCS? If so you will need the specific boost lines with the factory pill installed.

^i need this too. where can we get one?

i know they people get them from mitsubishiparts.net. is there any other sources?

OP - i have the same problem as you. most likely the cause is the missing pills. the part number is mn143555.

Make sure you replace the stock boost pills. And make sure you use a T to connect the wastegate and turbo outlet, and then connect that to one of the BCS nipples and cap the open nipple. Or just get MBC.

that is most likely the problem then. because i just put regular vacuum hose on the pieces. I am suprised that missing pills could cause that kind of problem. I will update tomorrow after I go to the dealer. Or I can just get a MBC? Thanks, James King

does that mean the wastegate actuator spring is 11psi? If so, i didnt realize the BCS had such an effect.

to assist in troubleshooting i'd buy a simple manual boost controller like hallman or forge... it does simplify vacuum routing in this case... no need to deal with the crappy stock solenoid going bad, or incorrect vacuum line installation(which isnt as straight forward as MBC)

anyhow it sounds like your car is simply running wastegate pressure only.... theres no vacuum "signal" going from the turbo nipple to wastegate nipple

If there was no signal then the wastegate would never open, making it run huge amounts of boost. Sounds like there is a problem with the connection between the source and actuator, air is flowing between them unrestricted which is what the BCS should be doing. Another possibility is that you just have a massive boost leak, like a untightened coupler clamp
