Help: Exhaust Hitting Driveshaft

Hey guys,

So today I got a great deal on a DC Sport Downpipe (Thanks Carlos ) I then drove right to my friends house and installed the down pipe. Pulled it out of the garage and I hear what sounds like im grinding something. So, I pull it back in the drive way jack it up and realize the driveshaft where the two pieces of the driveshaft meet are hitting the resonator on my HKS Hi Power. It's like grinding it down. Now obviously the easy fix would be to chop the resonator out and weld in a straight 3" pipe (which I may do), but this exhaust should be fitting fine.

Has anyone ever dealt with this or have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!
-Kenny

P.S. No the down pipe is not bent it's in great shape.

If you want to spend the extra money to get a straight pipe go for it. However, if it were me I would save my money. There will be no hp loss from creating a small dent.

the hks are known to be very close to the driveshaft and if installed in a certain way, they will rub. Mine did the same thing all i did was adjust the hangers that hold up the end of the dp and my exhaust clears fine now.

^I agree try to adjust the hangers but if the hangers look to be worn you can always get some stiffer hangers to make sure it's held away from the DS. Making a small dent is always an option but there is the right way to fix something and the easy way which are rarely the same thing.

Cool, thanks guys, I did try to mess with the hangers already. I'll give it another shot and see what happens. Worst case scenario I'll have the resonator chopped out.

Thanks guys!
