mitsubishi recomends 98 octane?

what up with recomending a min of 98 ocatne, here in New York they just cut 94 octane and the most you could find other than race gas is 93, and i know in some states you could only get 91.

whats going on am i making a mistake are these cars supposed to be running on a ctane we in the u.s. cant get.

you are confusing RON (UK and the rest of the world) with PON (US)

UK 95 RON = US 91 PON
UK 98 RON = US 94 PON

to make it even more clear, mitsu recommends 93 but you can also do 91 but it will effect performance.

Actually, it's MON (Motor Octane Number).

Edt: On further research I guess it's either: PON (Pump Octane Number),

93 will do just fine for your car. of course with 94 you will be less open to knock but even with 93 and the right tune you will be fine. think about it this way, a lot of people can only get 91 gas and their cars are still fine (weaker but fine)

well, you can just do what i do. find a gas station close to you house that you know carry good gas. i have been using the same gas station for the past 2 years and never had a problem. of course if you are going out of town....
