Where to dent on the DP to clear ACD

I will be installing a new downpipe on my EVO 8 (ACD) this weekend because I am having issues of the DP hitting the transfer case.

Putting a dent in the DP seems to be an option to avoid this problem. However, I am not 100% clear on where to dent it.

Here are a couple links with different views. I do not know how to upload photos yet, because I am just getting used to my new MacBook Pro...If for some reason they do not open just google search "evo downpipe" and use the pics that are designed for the ACD...

Can someone maybe paint shop it and circle the area where it should be dented and repost the image in a reply?

Thanks so much for your help!!

-Cheers-

My current one is made to fit, but it still rattles. I wanted to just ding it anyway just incase.

Are you sure its rattling on the transfer case and not one of the cross-bars?

Yes, the cross bars actually have a good amount of clearance. Mitsu techs confirmed it after test driving it for a couple minutes when I brought mine in for a non related warranty issue.

Well find the spot on the downpipe that has rub marks and smash it in a bit.

Ok, will do. My current DP is only 2.75" so this gives me a reason to upgrade it to 3" one. I purchased a Megan DP designed to fit ACD.

My Megan fits just fine too. I put a couple washers on the tie bar because after a couple weeks it started to rub. Very easy fix and no issues otherwise. I had the flange of my TP rubbing on one of the heatshields at one point, which I thought was the DP hitting the tie bar again. Bent the heatshield back a bit and problem solved.

I wouldn't just automatically whack a big dent in my new DP. Put it on and see if it rubs first. If it does, find out where it rubs for sure before you go denting up your pipe. It could rub in some unlikely places and just need some simple adjusting.

If you heat where its hitting, red hot with a torch, when you go to dent it, it will be WAY more smoother and less like you beat the crap out of it.
