Id probably go with a upgraded bov, port the exhaust mani and injectors. Like said though the black will shine best with race gas or e85. Red seems to fit your setup better.

I would get a standard wg actuator and run the black. Then as you add mods you will continue to see gains and never have to worry about running out of turbo. Also if e85 is in your area running higher boost on e85 really makes up for having few mods. The turbo can keep up and you will make good power.

What do you want to use the car for?
if your car is a DD i'd highly recommend against this.
I installed kelford 272's into my stock turbo'd car and it made it run laggy as.
then i added a FP Red ontop of that, and it made it even worse.
You can see the results of what people make on the standard turbo. Do you want more than 400whp?
by the looks of it, if you aren't looking to run more than 30psi, a FP Black is not a good mod.

agree with 94 awd. even a red on pump gas sucks, reds need high boost also. furthermore if u are going to run a red or a black at 30 psi, i recommend getting a built bottom end, as the car with the right mods can easily surpass 500awhp, especially with a black.

This is the way I have been thinking. I understand some of you guys saying not to get a black because it's a turbo that shine's on race gas, but I mean there has been enough evidence that it is superior to the red in almost every way, including on pump. I don't mind a slightly worse spool, and I am fine with it not being the ideal turbo setup for lower boost. The car will change and eventually I will be at a level where I have a built motor and running meth.

If I go by what you guys are saying then I will be buying another turbo every year. I guess people who run pump gas turbo's only run green's and bbk's?

Go with the Black if you plan on building the motor.

I had the Red on stock motor with all supporting bolt ons with e85 and made 509hp/470tq @ 30psi, on a reliable tune by Sean Ivey.

The Black is definately superior and you'll save yourself money from buying another stock appearing turbo down the road.

If you get either turbo and the cams you need to have higher injectors. I would say get the Bluemax (FIC) 1450's.

Give yourself that extra room to go bigger....

-Aquamist HFC-1 Kit
-Quater Master Twin disk with Hydrolic Throw out Bearing convertion
-HKS-DLI-II or Spark Tech Ignition.
-Build the Bottom End
-Bushur Ported T/B and I/T Manifold

yes the kelfords are too much cam for stock turbo sizings and low hp.
it created alot of lag on my setup.
if i could do it again i would buy HKS 272 or 264's.
This is my experience in my evo6 engine though, i dont know how much different the evo8+ cams are. I know they are bigger though. Kelford 272's might not be as bad on a Mivec engine though, but it will 100% need a tune.

there is so much crap advice on this forum it's rediculous.
it's hard to determine what is actually worth listening to.
