Minimum mods with FP Black?

Hey guys,

I'd like to purchase a FP Black this week but am wondering what the minimum mods I will need to run it are. I only have a limited amount of money so I need to figure out what else I will need and can afford.

My current mods are:

ETS 3.5 Intercooler
UICP+ LICP
Intake
Evo IX Bov
Walbro 255
Megan o2 Housing (Ported)
Full Greddy Ti-c Exhaust 3"

UEGO, Boost, and Oil Pressure gauges

*An Exedy Twin clutch is planned for the Spring time, If the Black eats the stocker I'll just upgrade it sooner.

I was thinking the minimum I would need are Injectors (I want to get 1000cc) and Arp headstuds to go along with the Black.

Is there anything else I am over looking? Is there anything else that is a must have? I don't plan on pushing the limits of the turbo until I do motor work down the line.

I have plans for rods, pistons, cams, a ported head, and some valve springs down the line. I might even do a stroker, but we will see how money goes.

Thanks in advance.

to be honest you should go ahead and port the exhaust manifold since your taking it off. You will have to get a clutch if you just want to make decient power. I would also get a aps twin vent bov. and thats all you should need to run it you already said your going to get 1000cc injectors so thats cool but dont expect to lay down killer power you need to get parts ported and the stuff you mention doing would help out a ton. Dont forget if your going to get it go ahead and let them port it for the extra 95. they did mine up that way you will not have to do stuff after the fact.

Do you really think I will need the APS Twin BOV for a low boost black setup? I was told the IX will hold up to 28-29 psi without a problem.

I was planning on getting the MAP Exhaust mani down the line, not sure if I will have the money to change it right now.

the aps twin vent is a better bov. Yes the stock 9 bov can hold like 27 or so psi before its starts leaking i think you have to crush it some to get that far. my logic is to upgrade now to get it done and over with the black will not really shine till 35+ psi and the stock bov will never hold that. My reason for doing the exhaust manifold NOW is because you should remove it to install the turbo properly and easily so since its off upgrade it kind of feel like its common sense so you dont have to do it later so find a way to get both or downgrade to a fp red LOL so you can do both but fp was having a sale on the black and its cheaper then the red after the holidays the sale is up so cop one now and you should be able to swing a ported exhaust as well from PPI or Buschur

to the op are u planning on just running pump gas on it. if that is the case the black isnt really for you. it is meant to be ran at high boost i think you would be better off with a red or something smaller just a thought

+1

the black doesnt show much gain unless youre running a minimum of 26psi...and the numbers only get better as the boost gets higher...when i get mine i plan on running at least 28-31psi...

was in the same boat.. with boosting with straight 93 and no meth.. but with the few graphs i have seen even at this level of boost a gain is still to be had with only around a 300 slower spoon then the red with potential of much more

So you guys think cams on the stock turbo should be the next step?

You guys don't think getting the Black is worth it for me? I mean it is very close to the Red but with a higher potential. I can run it on pump for a while and when I do some more work I can run a meth tune.

yeah thats the next step (cams)...

if you're only planning to run pump...get the green or the red...but even the red is pushing it on pump...
