I made my own COP for my DSM with a custom plate and Intrepid 2.7l coils. 300m coils will also work just have bolt holes 90* apart instead of across from each other. I used new Toyota connector housings and wire/pins and wired it up myself into the factory harness. The plate is a custom part that a member on DSMTalk makes. My whole setup with new parts store coils was about $150.

NICE! that is the info i need. setup looks sleek. i like it man!

Toyota connector housings though? you mean the connectors that clip to the cop? hmmm...you have a part # for that?

If i decided to go intrepid/300m/2.7l cops, i was just going to go to a junkyard, rip out a harness, pull the wire terminals out of the cop connectors, and use them to wire myself up my own harness...but if you have a part # for a connector that'd work, thatd save me alot of time if i went 2.7l cops.

that, or my other option was to buy CBR coils, and buy the ign. harness for them off ebay or of the sorts. you can source a used CBR ign. harness for about 10-20$. hell, i probably wouldnt even have to make a new harness. just wire up a new connector to plug it into the stock harness, and voila!

Ernie, how much you looking for, for the CBR coils? what yr/model bike it off of (not sure if it makes any difference..just would like to know so i can source a harness).

i first need to get my car back running (new transmission), but this is going to be my next project)

drastic,
I have the harness too... they come with the coils. Connector, pins, seals, coils, etc. The coils are new from Honda. I bought them as a replacement in case our coils took a crap at comp. They would be for a Honda CBR600F4i.

yep should no problem. theyre probably $$ new though. always can source them from a junkyard easy tho..

just CBR and 2.7l coils are both very cheap new..and used, and easy to source. and CBR ign. harnesses are very easy to source, and cheap so having to hunt down connectors is a cinch compared to others.

for those looking to do this yourself...just pick some 300m/intrepid 2.7l denso coils. like 25$/each. www.spoolinup.com has the 300m connectors and evo connectors...1-2hrs of ingenuity making a wire harness, and utilizing a evo plug should make it PnP, and cost you less than 150, and 2-3hrs of your time for a non-cdi COP kit.

ernie, sounds good (just gimme a week or so, since i gotta drop 500 this weekend on some labor). ima pm u a few questions here shortly

so you wouldn't have to worry about dwell times or anything with the CBR coils? So just wire up and go? No need for cdi box?
