Seafoam

Ive heard alot of good things about seafoam, that it cleans out the motor. But is there any performance gained by using it? It says it helps repair piston rings and lost compression but does it really? I have 120k on my car and was thinking of using it. Im gonna be doing a engine build soon anyways but was thinking about trying it out. Also you can put it in the oil or gas, but which ones better or do half in one and half in the other?

How helpful.

I have used Seafoam in the past, and on my Evo. I poured 1/2 in the tank, and I poured another 1/4 into the intake manifold, last 1/4 in the oil. I have since switched over to the Amsoil side. As they have the same items as Seafoam, just a wee bit better though.

It was ridiculous what came out of my exhaust though the IM.

As for your higher mileage Evo, I would not recommend it. Cleaning off some of the gunk may do more harm than good.

Kinda like doing a high mileage trans flush (auto), not really recommended.

Seriously!!! Did it couple of months ago to my daily driver civic...holy crap!!! Smoke screen galore.

It did run MUCH smoother though but I did have to clean my O2 sensor, as it had all the crap from the engine on it, sort of like white powder. Followed the treatment on the bottle, then new oil. So far I am happy with it. Car had 120k when I did it, currently at 123k.

Just type "seafoam" into the search bar without hitting enter. It will show you other threads already posted about it. I have used it before in my 4x4 life and will probably do it before I rip my head off this winter. On my old lifted explorer it definitely made it run smoother.

I used to use chrysler combustion chamber cleaner. You spray it into the intake while the motor i running. That stuff used to smoke out the neighborhood. Stunk real bad but did a good job of cleaning.
