Question for Redline MT-90 fluid users

Just put in 3 quarts of Redline MT-90 fluids in my car over the
weekend (10/25/2003)...

Finally drove the car for a while yesterday... I think the shifting
is notchier than when the car has factory tranny fluids...

Any other MT-90 user having the same problem... Stange thing
is that I think the shifting is smoother when engine is running
at higher rpms than low....

Maybe I'll just drive a bit more...

I have not noticed any negative effects from changing to Redline. The shift feel is about the same (Maybe slightly better). The biggest plus is the slight decrease in tranny decel buzz. That has got to be a good thing.

You might have over filled it. Some times when you have to much oil it could create a drag affect witch slows down the shifting action. I heard this once from a tranny builder.

MT90 tranny, 75W90 center/rear diff.

FWIW I noticed improved shifting smoothness and overall feel after the change in my car, not to mention no more gear grinds (haven't had one yet in 3000 miles).

I did it with the write up from runny_yolk
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...t=washer+fluid
and the shop manual..

Almost every bolt has torque spec of 23.... except the rear
differential where even the shop manual weren't clear what
torque spec I should be using for filler/drain bolt.

Re: Re: Question for Redline MT-90 fluid users

I did try to fill it up as much as I can... after all I thought
overfill is better than not having enough fluid??

I fill up until it's spill out from filler plug a bit.... gave it few more
pumps (I pump in the fluid from under the car)... quickly remove
the hose... close the filler plug as soon as I can....

Anyways, I did use only roughly 2.9 quart of redline though... just
as what the manual says.

I just put MT-90 in yesterday and noticed an improvement in shifting. Less effort going into first, reverse also.

I noticed a little bit notchier feel when I first put it in as well, however after about 500 miles it has become much smoother. I have put a total of about 1300 miles on it since the change and it feels really good now. Actually, the shifting feel is very transparent now which is a good thing as before I used to notice how notchy the shifting was.
