Which Trans Fluid?

My trans goes through phases. I'll drive it one day and miss gears, get locked out, or grind, then it'll be fine for weeks. No change in driving habits, or ambient temp. Well, no change that would make a big differance anyway. It's as if the trans feel is inconsistant. It will feel really crappy for a day or so, then magically be fine for weeks.

I don't shift overly hard in the Evo, due to trying to prolong the drivetrain life. The Mirage on the other hand, that mother ****er gets flat shifted But not the Evo. Even when I drive the Evo hard, I usually take it easy on the shifts.

But as I said, somedays the trans will just feel VERY notchy. Sometimes it's only for a few minutes and not nessacerly when it's cold. This happens when it's warm, too. I'm thinking this is normal operation, but when I miss and grind gears, it makes me want to stab children.

Right now I have all OEM fluids in the entire drivetrain. I just changed all the fluids about 3k ago. I'm thinking about switching to Redline MT90 or Redline Lightweight Shockproof.

Through a few minutes of searching, I read mostly great things about the Redline fluids. I only read a one or two negative comments about Redline. Many more negative comments as BG and Royal Purple.

Would it be worth it too switch over to Redline? The car is not daily driven, but it does get driven fairly spirited on the weekends. With that said, which do you guys recommend between MT90 and Lightweight Shockproof? Does anybody else come across these same issues with the stock fluids? I put Redline MT90 GL-4 in my Mirage when it started to get notchy and it worked wonders. I love it! I'm just nervous about putting it in the Evo. Evo's are much more expensive to fix

Anything but shockproof!

Use:

Redline MT90

Amsoil Synthetic Manual Transmission and Transaxle
Gear Lube 75W-90 API GL-4 (MTG)

Or stock fill...

I use a blend w/ heavy shockproof and have been for about 35k miles?

I have used 2 qts. of oem + 1 qt. heavy sp and also 2 qts BGII + 1 qt. heavy sp. Both worked very well, my trans always feels great.

I tried straight oem - to notchy.

I tried straight BGII - meh it was ok

I tried straight MT90 - I thought my transmission was going out, felt like garbage.

My next change which is coming up I think im going 2 qts of amsoil and 1 qt. of Heavy SP. I like the SP because it coats the gears and helps better protect them. I have less shavings on my drain plug with the blend than any of the other types I have tried.

I suggest trying different things - everyone has there opinion but unless your experiment a little you wont know what works the best for you. Everyone said how great MT90 was, I hated it - does that mean its bad? no, its just for me it sucked and I will never run it..

2 quarts of Redline MT90 and one quart of Redline lightweight shockproof. Shift smooth like butter.

I've read alot about that blend ( 2 MT90, 1 LWSP). That may be what I put in next drivetrain fluid change.
