Got a tech problem ...need help!!!

I'm having a power engine problem.. basically as the my evo 8 hits 3k rpm i loose power and the the rpms jump and then settle back to 3k rpm then giving me power. Its most noticeable in 3rd gear and up, but still present through all the gears. The problem seem to start after we had a cold front come through Portland a few weeks ago.

So does anybody have any ideas of what might be going on. The car has only 20K miles on it and is completely stock..

Again please help!!!

Might be a slipping clutch.

Sounds like a clutch to me too. Go driving. Shift into a higher gear than necessary, on a hill or even on a flat surface. When you are in the high gear, give it some gas (floor it). If the RPMs go up and your speed/power doesn't, then your clutch is on its way out.

Go shopping.

Sounds exactly like you're due for a new clutch.

Definitely a slipping clutch and has nothing to do with the climate change. You mustve done some work on the clutch!

Same problem i had, im almost posotive its a slipping clutch.

If you need reccomendations, Exedy has a good name, and ive been looking into the carbon kevlar and it looks pretty decent, i think i saw a video on it on streetfire with fidanza. Everyone says you cant go wrong with an Exedy twin, and ACT clutches are noisy, and not too reliable. This is just what ive gathered from the forums, im certainly not a tech. Just my .02

That nice cold air is making the engine happy and the clutch unhappy. My clutch started slipping on a cold day.

ya usually at higher gears u can tell when a clutch is slipping. does the cars rpms go up passt 3k but the car dosnt move really? cuz thats a sure sign of needing a new clutch. the clutches on these cars like to go pretty fast. they didnt put a great clutch in these cars stock :/
