Intercooler spray

This may be a dumb question but, using windshield washer fluid in the spray isn't that the same concept as a meth Injection just not as efficient but doesn't it still cool the engine down?

its ment to cool the intake charge passing throught the IC when it gets hot. IN auto mode it will trigger a set temp. No it is not the same. Meth is sprayed into the intake air charge adding resistance to combustion (think octaine boost). A direct chemical add. Water is sprayed on the outside of The IC to cool the air when intake charge temp. gets to a certain temp.
That is an easy non technical way to explain it.

Oh Oh!
dude, please, do not use windshield washer in a Meth+alcohol reservoir tank
what is exactly your question?

water intercooler spray and Met+alcohol injection are complete diferent concepts.
Murf is giving you allready the bases
run both in youtube and watch some videos

Even people on this forum said to use windshield wiper fluid for the meth injection? But that's besides the point, so does the intercooler spray even really make a difference seeing ad how they took it out in 05?

they took it out in 05 because there was no room for it, ACD reservoir sits in that spot.

So does it really even serve a purpose anymore? Maybe on a high horsepower car with a ****ty ic?

So why do all the WRC teams use it? And all the truck racers to? infact the truck guys actually use it to help cool the engines to!

I think by spraying a very fine mist of water into the air you can acutrally lower the temp of the air. and you are increasing the heat capacity of the air so it can pull more heat out of the intercooler.

Drag guys CANT use this!!! they get funny about condensation driping on the track. so can you inagine what they would say if you where SPRAYING water??? lol

Chris.

Don't want to open this can of worms but on a Daily driving car I dont' see much benefit to it. But thats just my opinion. My Evo has been fine with out it.

An Ic sprayer and meth injection are completely different..
intercooler sprayer you just spaying fluid over the intercooler to assist in colling the air passing thru the intercooler.. not THAT big of a difference.. you can use windshield wiper fluid cause it contains methanol or ethanol i forget which one but it will not freeze hence y people do it.. you could spend the money on pure meth but wont see much change from windshield fluid or water.. all its doing is wetting the surface to assist the cooling of air.. nothin internally just surface cooling..

meth injection your spraying an extremely fine jet of methanal/water mix 50/50 or 100% dirrectly into the intercooler piping just before the throttle body to reduce combustion temps.by reducing the temperature inside the engine you are able to run more boost and timing at a safer level than without..

i do suggest doing research on the forum before you attempt anything for the sake of your car there is alot of really good information on here just use the search button!

It serves a purpose, but for legal everyday driving, you probably won't see any large advantage to having it.

If you plan to track/auto-x/drag your car, I would keep it until you have tried it out.

Agreed mate. on a DD you would be heard pushed to see the diffrence. On a all out engine where that extra couple of % is worth it then yes you would see it.

For the ultimate you would have the following:

1) MASSIVE intercooler
2) spray a lovely fine mist of ICE COLD water onto the intercooler
3) have a multi point meth injection system
4) have indavidual port watrer injection system that activetly monitors Dept. and EGT temps and meters the water for each cycliner acordingly (this is what WRC teams use)

6) poss loook into fitting a pre trubo Meth injection nozzel.....

Cheers

Chris.
