Rod and main bearings clearance.

Hello I am trying to find out what is the a good oil clearance for the main and rod bearings?
I plan on revving to 9500-10000 RPM on my 2.0lt Evo IX.

Crankshaft is from K1
Rods for Carillo with CARR rod bolts
Pistons JE BR
Cosworth Head
ARP L19 headstuds.

Today I check with plastigauge the rod bearings clearance and I found it 0.0017" and the main beaings 0.0021"
Are they OK or should I change the bearings to give some extra oil clearance like
0.0020" to the rods and 0.0027" to the mains?
Any suggestions?

I think your fine where your at......however

Why dont you buy yourself some proper micrometer & a dial bore gauge....

for all the money you have wrapped up in this, not to spend ~$200 for good measuring stuff is silly in my mind.....

your only measuring where the plasti gauge is being squished, you dont know the whole story....

how much side clearance do you have between the rods & crank?

I also have dial bore gauge and micrometer.
The dial gauge show 0.0020" on the rod bearings and 0.0021" on the mains!
The piston to cylinder clearance is 0.0035"

Any suggestions???
Probably I will use 0.0022" on the rods and 0.0027" on the mains in order to have for sure good oil clearance...

I am more concerned with the piston to wall clearance. 0.0035 seems a little tight. i have built my motors with 0.0045-0.0050 clearance using the wiseco pistons.
unless ofcourse thats what buschur recommends.
The max clearance i would run on the mains is 0.002, but somewere around the 0.0015-0.0018 would be better.
You can use the oem bearings that have 4 different bearing thicknesses to get to the desired oil clearance.

The PWC does seam a little tight but I would go by exactly what the piston manufacturer reccomends. Different materials expand different amounts. What did you choose for ring end gap?
