Car stall after boost gauge installed.
Hello ,
recently I just install my boost gauge , the lights and electrical all work fine,
I use this guy method of installing my gauge ,
here is his link.
http://www.jonesland.com/evo/BoostGauge_Install.htm
But something went wrong , after driving off the drive way and into 1st gear
at 25k rpm the car stall, if i trun the on the car starts again, it won't stall
if drive very slowly.
here is the link to my video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJCYVKcaFCc
FYI.
the gauge I use is a autometer (mechanical) , I didn't use the nylon tubing that
came with the gauge , instead I use the rubber tube same as the windshield wiper,
not sure if that makes any different.
Any insights to what happen ?.

Boost/vacuum leak, do a boost leak test and fix the leak. Check to make sure that you didn't disconnect anything and forget to reconnect it. Sensors, or solenoids or anything. Check FPR solenoid on the passenger side of the intake manifold.

be vary wary if you mess with that screw. that adjusts the base idle, which means when timing etc is all held constant, via an expensive scan tool or maybe evo scan can do it i'm not sure. It shouldn't really be adjusted unless following the correct process or it can make your car run rough.

down instead it drops to rough idle that bearly kept the engine from shutting off,
than it went back up to 1k.

Sounds like a vacuum leak issue. Try removing the boost gauge hose (back to stock) and see what happens. Still stalls?
I tee'd into the bov hose for the boost/vac gauge. Didn't like the idea of messing with the fpr hose for boost reference as it might cause fueling issue if the hose leaks or pops off.

okay here is update,
I put back on the fuel pressure hose on
and detach the negative from the battery and step on the brake to drain all power to reset it.
The car does not shut off now , but each time I rev up the engine the car rpm drops down follow
by a rough idle than return to normal idling(1k).
I been doing some research and come across similar situation and that is , I may have a
bad ignition timing.
Here are the symptoms that I can relate to .
1.lack of power
2.car warm up in the cold fast.
3.ticking noise coming from intake mani.
any one knows how or knows a link on how to check and adjust timing on evos?
