If it only takes an hr long to tear a motor down then why do we get charged for more than that? I feel the amount of time spent on working on the car should be charged and not what some Mitsu manual says on how long it should take.

Well you would have to add on the time to get the engine out of the engine bay as well.

It takes an hour to rip the engine apart with no cares of anything but doing it as quickly as possible and showing a video. The head, oil pump, pistons/rods, rear main seal and crank shaft still needed taken apart. Then you have the time to take the engine out of the car. The HOURS required to clean the parts, the hours required to assemble the new engine, the hours required to put the new engine back in the car, the tools, brake clean, rags, engine hoist, engine stand and everything else that you invest to be able to do the job in the first place.

We charge $1500 to do the entire job from beginning to end. That's a bargain.

If that were the case then the shops that have a slow tech would charge 4000 for the 40 hour job right?? the book is what keeps people from getting ripped off by billing 40 hours on a 20 hour job.. if a tech wants to work like a crackhead to get a job done why should he punished for working too fast??

The time it takes to remove an entire engine and all accessories from a car and reassemble properly is well over the 1500.00 dave posted above.. THAT IS A STEAL!!!

To say the least! I've got probably 6-8 hours invested in pulling everything out of the car already. Will probably have another 6-8 hours putting it all back in the car too. Include the $1500+ worth of tools, engine hoist, engine stand, etc I have and $1500 for BR to deal with it sounds pretty good right now!

I use the same identical engine in my RS. I have rev'd it to 11K RPM. Engine has seen well over 300 dyno pulls. One year of racing. 47psi. I would have to say, I am a believer of the BR products. Not to mention I won the Nation Championship in the RTA Street class. Thanks dave!

Please keep in mind David Buschur has been buiding engines for over 20 years. 4G63 to be exact. This was before many of the modern companies started or graduated middle school.

Thanks guys.

James, it's funny because a lot of our customers now weren't born in 1989 when we started racing these cars.

I wasn't trying to cut you down Dave so please don't take it that way and yes 1500 to RR a motor is a good deal.

I was just asking. Some shops here in CO charge 2200 to R & R and then call 1850 getting it for a steal. So you are much cheaper.

Once again I was not trying to ruffle any feathers.
