Sad discovery!!

Yesterday (when replacing front engine mount) I noticed that the transmission (bellhousing) is cracked halfway around!!!!!!
Is this a common problem, is it plausible that the clutch exploded, the car runs fine but a friend (mechanic for mitsubishi)told me he have seen that with ACT clutch.
In a second inspection I noticed a bump in the bellhousing; Don't know what happened????
Sorry if this was covered before.

The bump is to the outside (like something hit from the clutch). No I did not hit anything with the car.
