It looks like that turbo comes with the J-pipe and a stock exhaust manifold. I'd say you are set to go, unless you wish to port everything. I have ported exh mani, but not ported hot side. Oh well.

Hey, I did this 8 to 9 turbo about a year ago and it is definately worth it. just make sure you have the supporting mods. i also did it without buying the kit. AND just to let you know, I used the 8 j-pipe as well. all of those people who say you have to get the 9 jpipe are wrong. if you have any questions, feel free to hit me up.

Would there be a significant gain from going to a 10.5 8 turbo to a 9???

when i installed my white on my 8 i used all my 8 lines and the 8 j-pipe. prob depends on what fmic your running though. and you dont have to bend any of them as long as you dont care about bolting the extra tabs on the line back the turbo. i might have moved the oil feed half an inch? idk it went very smooth. and for 100 bucks id go ahead and do the porting. go ahead and coat that too lol.

I'm doing the same thing, since I managed to bbq my evo 8 turbo. The shop where I bought the turbo from said I need 2-3 hours of tuning to make it run correctly. I realize that some will be necessary, but does 2-3 hours seem excessive?

Edit: I'm not looking to make gobs of power at the moment, just get the car running again for right now, as she is a daily driver…err, was up until now.

The water lines can be bent to fit. The oil return line will definitely need to be replaced with an Evo 9 version. Part #1225A001 (OEM Turbo Oil Retun Line September 2003-2007+ VIII-IX). When installing the oil feed banjo bolt I highly recommend screwing it in by hand. I used a socket/ratchet to tighten when the crush washer slipped and caught on the treads. Banjo bolt sheared off in half, ****ted a brick before realizing the inner threads were loose enough to unscrew by hand. Amateur hour cost me a few days on waiting for a replacement to arrive.
