Should be dandy. If it ever slips, think about upgrading to the HDG6.

Just incase anyone is looking to get the ACT HDSS Lancershop.com has it and a Streetlite flywheel for $897... haven't seen it anywhere cheaper yet. I'm having to buy one now after 27,000 on my 06MR... stock clutch obviously sucks... If anyone knows of a better price let me know I plan on ordering soon.

I had an ACT HDSS for almost 10k on my 2006 Evo IX MR daily driver... putting down 375 hp and 355 ft/lbs. She's never been launched, auto-x, or tracked.

As part of my 2.3L rebuild w/FP Red, I decided to upgrade to the from the Heavy Duty Pressure Plate (MB017) to the Xtreme Pressure Plate (MB017X). My Evo is now running the ACT XTSS setup. Although the clutch pedal pressure is a little heavier now, it feels great. Hoping to have a tune no later than next week to see what the XTSS is really capable of performing... no numbers to report yet.

Heavy Duty Pressure Plate
Clamps load increase of 20% to 50%, Pedal feels stock to moderate, Many SFI Certified to insure safety (Torque capacity 508 ft/lbs - 41% clamp load increase over stock)

Xtreme Pressure Plate
Clamps load increase of 50% to 120%, Pedal feels moderate to stiff, Many SFI Certified to insure safety (Torque capacity 567 ft/lbs - 57% clamp load increase over stock)

If you want to save some $$$, my ACT HD Pressure Plate is for sale. The ACT website sell these for $539.00.

Most ACT clutch kits will include a Pressure Plate, Disc, Release Bearing, Alignment tool, and Flywheel. These ACT kits usually go for about $900 (w/flywheel). Many shops in my area will charge about $500-$600 to install. Note: Some shops charge a little more for to install on the MR 6-speed.

Buying a kit from someone like Lancershop or MAP saves over $350.

HD Pressure Plate (MB017)
SS Street Disc (3000305)
Streetlite Flywheel (600205)
Release Bearing (RB601)
Alignment Tool (AT03)

Total (if purchased separate from ACT) = $1,260.82 ($955 using discounted prices via google search)

I run the HDSS with the extreme pressure plate. No issues for me. Drives well and shifts well.

MAP had the best prices when I got mine as they often do. Send them a PM for the good dealz.

Have any of you guys have issue with the release point? Mine is all the way out, i adjusted the clutch pedal to push more into the master cylinder, but the release is still far out there. Bled it correctly and everything I possibly could.

Just an update im at approx 170 miles breaking in the clutch, it slips really bad when i begin to push on the throttle a little. Is this a sign of a bad pressure plate?

are clutches rated to the flywheel and not to the wheels.. so 400wtq = say 525 tq at the flywheel (with say 25% drivetrain loss)

ACT HDSS will do you about 450-500wtorq. Anything more, no bueno!

If you want a little better clutch and holds better power than the HDSS, go with the XTSS, that rates 550-600wtorq.

And clutches are rated by Torque, not horses.
