Sputter/Jerking motion upon Boost build up...?

Hi guys I'm new to the forums and I just bought my first Evo on Saturday.

It's a 2003 all I know about it is, it has CAI. Other than that, I'm pretty much shooting in the dark here.

Anyways, whenever I go to almost wide open throttle most of the time it will shake pretty bad, sometimes it'll happen for a second then sputter and continue to spool up and boost, most times however, it'll shake/sputter till I let up off the pedal a bit, when I let off, it spools and boost.

What could be causing this? I haven't been able to do a boost leak test yet, but it does boost so it's not a hose that popped off or anything.

Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance

Now heres the most important question.

Which CAI do you have and is the car tuned for it.

I would definitely give it a once over. Boost leak test for sure and check out the plugs. Have someone pull the ROM to see if it's been changed or if it's stock. Do you know any other mods that have been done? Sounds like maybe you're hitting fuel cut. Do you have any installed gauges like wideband?

I would start with plugs, very logical, inexpensive, and even if ot doesn't fix it new plugs will definitely not hurt.

Thank you all for your help, I took out the plugs to make sure they weren't crappy plugs or old. There was Copper NGK's so that's good, then I put them back in. I'm assuming the plug over cylinder 1 was loose a little because after retightening them. No more sputter

I'm still going to get a boost leak test done and get it retuned JUST to make sure. Can never be too safe especially with an Evo

Check if your blow off valve is in the correct way, if i had a dollar for all the posts of people having jerking problems coz they put they bov wrongly..

clean your maf sensor with the appropriate cleaner.

Replace your fuel pump

get proper iridium plugs..

if all those above dont work, try log your car and post a few logs of where it sputters
