Cold start issue

Ok this is odd. Only happened twice. So My Evo is my DD. I have an 06 IX MR with the Works TR340 package. We got pounded with snow past week so this last snow storm I did not drive the car so it sat for 3 days. Finally cleaned the car off. I went to start the car this morning and everything came on as far as electrics. I turn the key to start and i just hear the starter motor. The engine does not crank. I try again same result..

After the 3rd time i stop. I think maybe my battery needs a jump.. I pop open the hood and then I get back in teh car and try and start it again. After the 2nd time it cranked and started right up? I look at my dash and the Service Engine light is on now.

I am stumped this has only done this one time prior but the service engine light never came on. Car idles fine and drives fine. Plugs are new car has abotu 31k on the odometer.

Any thoughts?

do you have your bay semi sealed with the metal vent?.....snow in the engine bay can wreak some havok....pull the kick panel closest to your left foot and inspect the harness there....you may want to seal the hole where that harness comes in as it may be leaking and making electrical problems.....check your battery connections also.....

Thanks Douglas... After some more inspection I really think the starter was just frozen. I had to take my undertray off so starter has not been covered.. I drove my car around after work today and the Service engine light went off. So I am just thinking it was frozen.

I really should consider changing out the Evo as my DD. I bought it for my Daily so I could put my R32 away since its set up for the track. IDK.. I will keep my eye on this. As soon as the snow melts a bit I will go under there and make sure nothing is out of whack..

Guys' tell me why snow is worse than rain other than the temperature please. Get your battery checked it's free and easy.

Battery is fine. As I said the starter made an odd noise but the motor ne'er cranked. So just a starlter spinning sound
