Please help clutch problem?

Well I have begun to get some good results tuning my car. I backed off some timing and leaned out the afr and my peak load jumped from 320 to 330 picking up as much as 20 load in some areas. Thank you EvoM for helping me figure that out through your posts particularly JB and CH3.

Anyway at the end of my tunning session I let out the clutch at the end of a 3rd gear pull and there was a grinding and spinning noise that sounded like my clutch or pp did not fully disengage. I have had the clutch in for a long time but have felt no signs of slipping. It has only made the noise when releasing the clutch at high rpm. If anyone has any ideas. Mabye i just needed to let it cool down or I have possibly glazed it?

Thanks for your time and help.

Does It happen when you engage and disengage the clutch? If so it sounds like we might have the same problem. With me I get a whinning/kind of grinding noise when I upshift and downshift. I been looking through threads about transfer cases and that's what it sounds like the issue is. I'm going to a shop today to get my fluids changed and check for metal chavings.

I only have noticed it when depressing the clutch petal coming out of high rpm. I have not attempted to up shift after yet. It sounds like something is still spinning. I started to wonder if I sheared some teeth too. Let me know what you find. I will search more toward t-cases instead.

When I went to my shop and explained to them what I was experiencing they told me right away it was my transfer case, but we couldn't put it on the lift because they were working on another car. They told me that the 03' 8s are known to have weak t-cases, its kind of like the engineers didn't design them well for the 03s but the 05s are stronger. Ill let you known for sure what's up with mine when we put it on the lift today.

Another thing. Does it whine or make that grinding sound when you shift into 1st(like right when the clutch feels like it engaged). And does it happen when you downshift?

I heard it for the first time yesterday. I don't know about it whineing or grinding at any other time. It felt fine. But I will be driving it more today. It may be just beginning to give out.

I hope not...Does the throw out bearing make such a noise. I could also see that as an issue since it seems like it is not letting go for a second. I have driven it around today and it drives fine but have not attempted any high rpm shifts yet.

Things are running fine today. I believe that I simply over taxed my clutch and it needed some time to cool off.
